Terms of use

This is a note-taking and comparison tool. It does not identify birds, verify records, or replace field judgment and reporting rules.

Your responsibility

You are responsible for the accuracy, lawfulness, and sensitivity of what you record or share. Treat automated suggestions as candidates only. Follow the rules of any citizen-science database or survey to which you later submit a record.

Sensitive wildlife

Do not expose nests, roosts, or locations of threatened or persecuted species. Locality-only export is the default, but you remain responsible for reviewing exports before sharing.

Reference media

Only link to recordings you are allowed to use, such as openly licensed sources or your own media. The app does not host or reproduce recordings. Respect source attribution, licences, and the terms of eBird, BirdNET, and other services.

No affiliation

BirdNET, Merlin, and eBird are referenced only to explain a possible workflow. They are trademarks of their respective owners. Bird ID Evidence Card is independent and is not endorsed by or affiliated with those services.

Availability and backups

Local browser storage can be cleared by the user, operating system, or browser. Export JSON backups regularly. The software is provided “as is,” without a guarantee of uninterrupted availability or fitness for a particular survey or identification decision.

Licence

The application source is available under the MIT License. These terms are effective 28 August 2026.
